About the opportunity:
Are you passionate about data integrity and energy resource management? The Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) is seeking a detail-oriented Petroleum Geology Data Compliance Officer to ensure the quality and compliance of geological and well data submitted under South Australia's energy resource legislation. In this pivotal role, you will monitor industry submissions, identify and follow up on non-compliance issues, and maintain the accuracy and accessibility of the PEPS database. Your work will directly support geoscientists and managers by providing technical assistance and ensuring timely access to high-quality data and reports.
You will also play a key role in client service delivery, responding to data requests and contributing to public-facing databases. Key Selection Criteria:
Please only address the dot points listed below in your application
- Strong technical knowledge of petroleum geological and drilling data, with experience in data acquisition, quality control, and interpretation (e.g. wireline logs, cores, cuttings).
- Proven ability to identify non-compliance issues, analyse trends, and contribute to process improvements through reporting and technical support.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills, with the ability to work independently or in a team, manage deadlines, and deliver reliable outcomes under pressure.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office, and a willingness to learn DEM systems and understand industry needs.
Qualifications:
Essential: A recognised and relevant tertiary technical qualification
Remuneration:
TGO2 salary range $75,240 - $79,880 per annum + superannuation
Full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week
Special Conditions:
- Although the role is based in the Adelaide metropolitan area, some out of hours work and inter/intrastate travel, including field work may be required.
- The incumbent is expected to hold and to maintain a current driving licence.
