Deputy Sustainment Project Manager

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We’re seeking a Deputy Sustainment Project Manager to support the delivery and ongoing availability of a critical Defence capability based in Adelaide.

What You’ll Do

As a Deputy Sustainment Project Manager, you will support the day-to-day coordination of sustainment activities that ensure critical Defence capability remains available, effective and fit for purpose. Working closely with Defence product teams, industry partners and technical specialists, you’ll contribute to planning, reporting, financial management and stakeholder coordination activities that support successful capability outcomes.

This role offers exposure to complex Defence environments, senior stakeholders and long-term capability programs while providing opportunities to further develop your project management and sustainment expertise.

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

• Support the planning, coordination and delivery of sustainment activities across a complex Defence capability.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of project planning, reporting and performance management processes.
• Monitor project schedules, risks, issues and financial performance.
• Prepare briefs, reports, correspondence and committee submissions to support decision-making

What You’ll Bring

• Experience supporting projects, sustainment activities or complex programs within Defence, Government or industry environments.
• Strong organisational, planning and coordination skills.
• Experience preparing reports, briefs and stakeholder communications.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain an AGSVA Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
