Our business relies on reliable and efficient IT systems to drive business performance. We are looking for a skilled AS400 RPG Programmer to join our IT team and support the continued development and maintenance of our systems.
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced RPG programmer with strong solution development skills. This role will also provide the right candidate with an opportunity to take their career to the next level through project related work including interfacing and data conversions as we gradually transition our RPG system across to SAP.
In this position, you will take ownership of designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications on the iSeries (AS/400) platform using RPG IV, ILE, and related technologies. Your expertise in iSeries systems, proficiency in modern RPG programming, and commitment to building efficient, scalable, and dependable applications will be key to your success in this role.
You will provide ongoing support to maintain a custom-built ERP system and will undertake a variety of tasks including programming, analysis and solution development. You will have the opportunity to work within a dedicated, supportive and creative team.
About the Successful Candidate
You will be detail oriented, with strong RPG programming skills and be a proven problem solver. To be successful in this role you will possess:
- 5 years plus proven experience in RPG development with strong expertise in RPG programming.
- Experience within a manufacturing and/or sales environment
- SQL experience
- A disciplined approach to providing clearly documented code
- Experience in supporting, diagnosing, modifying and testing custom applications
- A proven background in providing quality solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
A clear communicator (both written and verbal), who is highly motivated, you will work well within a close-knit team and assist stakeholders across all aspects of the organisation to solve business and system issues.
