Senior Automation Tester

📍 Location: Canberra, ACT (Hybrid – Full-time onsite initially, then minimum 2 days onsite per week)

⏳ Contract Duration: Initial contract to 30 June 2027 + 2 x 12 month extension options

About the Opportunity

An experienced Senior Automation Tester is required to support a major federal government transformation and platform migration program within a complex enterprise ICT environment.

This opportunity will suit a highly capable automation testing professional with strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining modern automation frameworks while working collaboratively across Agile delivery teams.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring system stability, quality assurance, and business continuity throughout a large-scale enterprise platform migration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts
  • Plan and manage automation testing activities across project delivery lifecycles
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, API, and system testing activities
  • Support CI/CD integration and DevOps-aligned testing practices
  • Identify, manage, and escalate testing risks, defects, and dependencies
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to testing team members
  • Produce clear and accurate test plans, reports, and technical documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across testing practices and frameworks

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong experience in automation testing within enterprise ICT environments
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium/WebDriver, Cypress, or similar automation frameworks
  • Strong scripting/programming capability in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, GitLab, or similar DevOps tooling
  • Experience testing APIs, databases, and web-based applications
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and SDLC practices
  • Experience producing automation test strategies, plans, and reporting artefacts
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Previous Federal Government experience highly regarded

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting large-scale migration or transformation programs
  • Exposure to LeanFT / UFT Developer
  • Experience working within Testing Centres of Excellence (TCoE)
  • Experience mentoring or coaching junior testers and delivery teams
