Road engineer/Road Designer Your new company

A well established local government organisation is seeking an experienced Roads Design Engineer to support the delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects across its road network. This is a hands‑on contract role focused on detailed design work and stakeholder coordination within a collaborative in house engineering team.

Your new role Reporting into the design function, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality road and drainage designs that meet statutory requirements, engineering standards and internal specifications. Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and reviewing civil design plans, estimates and options for roads, kerb and gutter, footpaths, carparks, traffic facilities and stormwater drainage
• Producing detailed designs using 12D and AutoCAD
• Undertaking surveys, investigations and design reviews for capital works projects
• Liaising with internal stakeholders, contractors, utilities and government authorities
• Reviewing external consultant designs and ensuring compliance with standards
• Supporting consultant engagement and contract administration as required

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
• Minimum 5 years' post qualification experience in civil / roads design
• Strong capability in 12D and AutoCAD, particularly for road and drainage design
• Experience preparing estimates and design documentation for civil infrastructure
• Sound understanding of relevant legislation, standards and regulatory requirements
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Current Class C driver's licence
• Ability to work collaboratively in an office based team environment
