Highbury Executive is partnering with a leading boutique corporate advisory firm to appoint Vice President / Principal to their Sydney team.
This is a senior opportunity for an experienced M&A professional who wants to lead transactions and build client relationships in a lean, high-performance environment. The firm focuses exclusively on mid-market M&A and private equity transactions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the firm's Partners, you will lead the day-to-day running of live M&A and capital raising mandates from inception to close. You will be the main point of contact for clients and counterparties, manage and develop junior team members, and play an increasing role in origination. There is a clear pathway to Director for the right candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the execution of buy-side and sell-side M&A processes across the mid-market
- Manage transaction timetables, counterparties and advisers from preparation through to completion
- Oversee and review financial models, including DCF, LBO and merger analysis
- Take ownership of information memoranda, pitch materials and board-level transaction documents
- Lead negotiations alongside Partners, including on valuation, deal structure and key commercial terms
- Run due diligence processes across legal, financial and commercial workstreams
- Lead capital raising mandates for PE-backed and privately owned businesses
- Build and maintain senior relationships with PE sponsors, founders, management teams and advisers
- Contribute to origination by identifying opportunities and supporting new business pitches
- Mentor, manage and develop small team of analysts
REQUIREMENTS
- 6+ years of M&A advisory, investment banking or transaction services experience, including at least 2 years leading deal execution
- A track record of closed transactions, ideally across mid-market or PE-backed deals
- Expert financial modelling skills and the ability to review and challenge junior work
- Experience managing clients directly and leading counterparty negotiations
- Experience leading and developing junior team members
- CA or CFA qualified
- An established or developing network across PE sponsors, corporates and advisers
- Excellent judgement, commercial acumen and communication skills
- Ambition to grow into a Director role and build a long-term career in mid-market M&A
