This role will work with Icon Water’s subject matter experts, consultants and Major Projects Delivery Partner to plan the delivery of the $100m+ LMWQCC Biosolids Management Project. This project will include the construction of a major new facility at the Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre in Canberra.In this role you will be responsible for creating new project specifications, engaging consultants, developing a concept design for the facility and executing a works agreement with Icon Water’s delivery partner. You will also assist the Program Manager in creating a resource plan to establish the team which will deliver this major project.Other Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Manage major and complex packages of project work, or projects, through the conception, planning, delivery and finalisation phases of mixed discipline municipal water and wastewater projects.
- Foster a safety first culture within the project team (including the contractors) ensuring all legislative obligations and Icon Water policies are followed and provide leadership and development to other members of the project team.
- Manage the planning horizon for your portion of the project’s scope or project including, providing engineering and organisational skills required for design, contracting, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Manage and be accountable for design, construction, and commissioning quality for major and complex packages of project work, or projects.
- Prepare project documentation, proposals, and business cases and ensure the project’s management and record systems are set up and adhered to.
- Provide considered and documented options analysis and recommendations to the project manager and governance groups in a timely and accurate manner for resolution.
- Representing Icon Water and influence integrated planning, policies and projects at forums regarding environmental management with external stakeholders including government, industry bodies, management committees, community groups, private landholders, auditors and consultants.
- Guide designers to achieve outcomes that support the project’s objectives and schedule, including assisting and ensuring the application of safety in design principles.
- Lead and execute specific procurement tasks such as the invitation and assessment of tenders and the award of contracts in accordance with Icon Water’s procedures and delegations.
- Prepare and manage contractual documentation including EOIs, tenders, specifications, scopes, standards, briefs, reports, variations, budgets and schedules.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to progress the project, obtain necessary project approvals and coordination on site, and ensure a collaborative approach to design, construction, operational handover and commissioning.
- Generate reports and advice such as options analysis, technical evaluations.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for suitable candidates with Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering and knowledge of project management methodologies. To be successful in the role, you should also have:
- Experience in the engineering, materials and applicable standards for treatment assets related to municipal water supply and sewerage facilities.
- Demonstrated experience in projects completed on time and on budget
- Knowledge of and experience gaining statutory approvals for projects and a familiarity with ACT and NSW Legislation including the Environmental Protection Act.
- Experience in preparation of procurement contractual documentation including tender documents, specifications, scopes, standards, briefs, reports, RFI’s, Variations, budgets and schedules.
