Interior Designer

As a vertically integrated business with our own factories in Fiji and Sri Lanka, KOOKAÏ offers full visibility across the Group. This role expands beyond our retail portfolio, supporting the design and delivery of group-wide built environment projects including villas, hotels, offices, call centres and other developments.
Reporting to the Head of Store Design, you will play a key role in transforming project briefs into creative, functional and buildable outcomes. You’ll collaborate with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure that design intent is realised while meeting budgets, timelines and brand values.
This is a full-time role based in our Head Office located in Hawthorn East, Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:
• Developing design concepts for group projects including hospitality, residential and workplace environments
• Translating leadership briefs into creative design proposals, producing concept plans, elevations and 3D perspectives
• Preparing preliminary cost estimates and evolving concepts through stakeholder collaboration
• Producing architectural and interior documentation packages including plans, elevations, schedules and details using AutoCAD or equivalent
• Liaising with consultants to integrate structural, services and compliance requirements
• Supporting project timelines, budgets and approvals, and conducting site visits to ensure compliance with design intent
• Coordinating with contractors, suppliers and consultants to resolve design or construction matters
• Monitoring architectural and interior trends and researching innovative materials and sustainable practices
• Ensuring adherence to OH&S policies and company standards
Requirements:
• Degree qualified in Interior Design (Architecture Design a bonus)
• Proven industry experience
• Proficiency in Autodesk CAD (Revit preferred)
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign preferred
• Strong design capability with high attention to detail and organisation
• Strong project management skills and ability to read architectural drawings
• Material and manufacturing knowledge
• Excellent time management, communication skills and ability to work under pressure
• Proactive, adaptable and team-oriented
