The role
Our Brisbane team is growing and we are looking for a Traffic Engineer with at least two years of experience to join us.
You will work across our Transport Advisory and Construction Traffic Management service lines, from Traffic Impact Assessments supporting development applications through to Construction Traffic Management Plans for complex sites. Project types span residential subdivisions, service stations, childcare centres, industrial developments, retail and commercial projects, school masterplans and major road works.
You will
- Deliver Traffic Impact Assessments supporting development applications to Brisbane City Council and surrounding local governments
- Undertake car parking demand assessments, car parking layout and access design
- Prepare Construction Traffic Management Plans, Traffic Guidance Schemes and construction staging documentation
- Undertake swept path analysis and prepare Vehicle Management Plans and Pedestrian Management Plans
- Conduct site inspections and traffic and pedestrian safety assessments across operational sites including warehouses, loading docks and yards
- Liaise directly with clients, councils and the Department of Transport and Main Roads to secure approvals
- Support the team on road safety audits, active transport assessments and risk assessments
- Manage your own project scope, programme and deliverables with support from senior staff
What we are looking for
- A relevant tertiary qualification in civil, traffic or transport engineering
- At least two years of experience in traffic engineering, whether in consultancy, contracting or local government
- Working knowledge of Austroads guides, AGTTM & QGTTM
- Familiarity with the Queensland development assessment process and local government planning schemes
- Competence in AutoCAD or Civil 3D, and swept path software such as AutoTURN or Vehicle Tracking
- Sound technical judgement and the ability to produce clear, well reasoned reports
- Confident written and verbal communication, because you will be dealing with clients and assessment managers directly
- A collaborative approach and a genuine interest in getting the safety outcome right, not just the compliant one
Nice to have
None of these are essential and we will train you on any of them. They will simply help you hit the ground running.
- RPEQ registration, or eligibility and an interest in working towards it
- Exposure to Waste Management Plans, refuse room design or council waste guidelines
- Road Safety Auditor accreditation, or an interest in working towards it
- SIDRA or other intersection modelling experience
- Queensland traffic management qualifications, or a willingness to obtain them
