About the Role

As the 2IC at our busy Port Kennedy practice, you will play a critical role in supporting both the clinical and administrative functions of the practice. Working closely with the Practice Manager, you will help lead the team, ensure smooth day-to-day operations, and deliver an exceptional patient experience.

This role is ideal for an experienced dental professional who enjoys a combination of leadership, reception, dental assisting, and operational responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Practice Manager in the effective day-to-day management and operation of the practice.
  • Lead, support, and motivate team members, including providing training, coaching, and constructive feedback.
  • Act as the Practice Manager’s delegate when required, taking responsibility for team operations and decision-making in their absence.
  • Assist with rostering, administration, reporting, planning, and operational problem-solving.
  • Monitor team performance and promote adherence to practice policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Oversee stock, equipment, and practice resources to ensure the team has what it needs to operate effectively.
  • Deliver a high standard of patient care and customer service across all patient interactions.
  • Manage reception operations, including patient enquiries, appointments, payments, and the resolution of escalated concerns.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between clinical and administrative teams.
  • Support workplace health and safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Maintain a professional, organised, and welcoming practice environment.


Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within the dental industry (Essential).
  • Previous experience in both Front Reception and Dental Assisting (Essential).
  • Experience using Dental4Windows (D4W) (Essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Essential).
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment (Essential).
  • Sound computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous leadership, senior reception, treatment coordination, or team leadership experience.
  • Professional presentation and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Confident working autonomously, making decisions, and taking initiative when required.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and solutions-focused approach.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to contributing positively to the team.
  • Availability to start at 7:45am (Essential).
  • Availability to work alternate Saturdays (Essential).
