About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable legal professional to join our us in a dual-function role as Assistant Company Secretary and In-House Legal Counsel. This position plays a critical role in supporting strong corporate governance while also providing pragmatic, commercial legal advice across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys working closely with senior leadership and the Board, and who values variety, responsibility, and impact.
NB - this role is a 13 MFTCKey ResponsibilitiesIn-House Legal Counsel
- Provide timely, commercially focused legal advice across the business
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and commercial arrangements
- Advise on regulatory, compliance, and risk matters
- Support policy development and internal governance frameworks
- Liaise with external counsel where required
Company Secretarial
- Support the Company Secretary in ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements
- Prepare and manage Board and Committee meeting agendas, papers, minutes, and resolutions
- Maintain statutory registers and corporate records
- Assist with ASIC filings and corporate transactions
- Monitor governance developments and advise on best practice
About You
- 3+ years post-qualification experience, ideally with in-house and/or regulated-industry exposure. Experience within the banking and/or financial sector is highly regarded
- Exposure to ASIC, Corporations Act, or compliance frameworks
- Solid understanding of corporate governance and company secretarial obligations
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate legal risk into practical advice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
