Job Description

Posted on: March 1, 2026

Help shape the Gold Coast with a team that has been doing exactly that for over 30 years. RPS has proudly delivered planning and design projects across the Gold Coast and surrounding regions for three decades. We are deeply embedded in the local market, working on projects that have helped shape communities you can see and experience every day. RPS is looking for a Planner or Senior Planner to join our Gold Coast Planning and Design team. This opportunity is suited to a planning professional who wants to contribute to meaningful local projects, be part of a genuinely easy-to-work-with team and continue developing their career in a supportive environment. Local expertise. Global backing. While we are proudly local, we are also part of a global professional services firm of over 5,600 people across 125 countries. That means you will enjoy the culture and connection of a close-knit Gold Coast team, with the stability, opportunity and technical depth of an internationally recognised consultancy behind you. The Role You will play a key role in delivering projects that shape the future of the Gold Coast and adjoining regions, with opportunities to collaborate on work beyond the local area. Working alongside experienced planners and designers, you will contribute to a range of urban and regional planning projects. From site investigations and development applications to strategic advice and stakeholder engagement, you will be involved in work that drives positive outcomes for our cities and communities. Depending on your experience, you will either build your capability under the guidance of senior team members or take ownership of projects, support client relationships and mentor junior planners. What You Will Do

  • Contribute to the delivery of statutory and strategic planning projects across the Gold Coast and broader region
  • Prepare development applications, planning reports and supporting documentation
  • Provide practical, solutions-focused planning advice to clients
  • Engage with local and state stakeholders as part of project delivery
  • Work collaboratively within our planning and design team
  • Support ongoing client relationships and repeat work opportunities

What You Will Bring

  • A degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
  • Experience in statutory and or strategic planning
  • Knowledge of Queensland planning legislation and development processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine interest in shaping great places

Why Join Our Gold Coast Team?

  • Be part of a well-established team with 30 years of local project experience
  • Work in an easy-going, supportive and genuinely fun team environment
  • Enjoy flexible working arrangements that support a healthy work–life balance
  • Access professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Benefit from the backing and stability of a global consultancy

Alongside This, We Offer

  • Annual professional membership reimbursement
  • Paid parental and partner leave
  • $250 active lifestyle allowance per annum
  • Additional annual leave purchase scheme and salary packaging options
  • Professional and technical development programs, including study assistance, online learning and mentoring across portfolios
  • Active office social events, employee assistance program, service recognition and more

If you are looking for a role where you can build your career locally, enjoy coming to work and be part of a team that values both high-quality outcomes and balance, we would love to hear from you. Apply now and help us continue shaping the Gold Coast. Our Approach Our people live our purpose, deliver our promise, and demonstrate our behaviours every day. Our behaviours define who we are. Developed by our people, they underpin everything that we do. They create the memorable experiences we are known for and make RPS a great place to do great work. Stronger together is one of our five core behaviours and it is key to building a collaborative workplace. We encourage everyone to bring their best and to support others to do the same. By sharing knowledge, challenging each other to think differently, and fostering an environment of trust and respect, our people can learn, grow and thrive – and share in our success. Recruitment Agencies We have a Preferred Supplier List of trusted partners to assist us when required and do not acknowledge any speculative CVs or unsolicited candidate introductions from agencies not on this list. Please refer to the careers page on our website if you require any further information.
