We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to support for renewable energy projects (PV/BESS).

About The Role

• Manage design activities and supervise in-house engineers, drafters and external consultants to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of quality, safe and compliant designs and associated engineering artefacts
• Engage (and Manage) local Design & Engineering consultants / Design-Houses to seek external expertise for various Design and Engineering elements related projects
• Be the single point of contact on design and technical matters to Project Leadership team and HQ Engineering Division and to external stakeholders
• Development of concept and tender designs for Renewables and Energy projects, applying knowledge and past experience to ensure optimal project outcomes during pre-contract phase
• Supports estimating with generation of engineering quantities and RFQ packages for tenders and bids during pre-contract phase
• Effectively coordinate multi-discipline designs to ensure all interfaces are addressed and risks are appropriately managed. These design disciplines include electrical, performance systems (PV, BESS), mechanical, civil & structural, Comms & and SCADA
• Be proactive in resolving technical issues as they arise, working effectively with the relevant project design team and the wider HQ Engineering Division where necessary
• Monitor project efficiency by reviewing performance against budget and implement actions to ensure targets are met
• Experience at a senior level within a project-based utility or construction company in one or more relevant design disciplines
• Demonstrated experience in design, including evidence of large project involvement and the ability to lead multi-discipline designs
• Evidence of a high level of ability in the preparation and review of engineering designs to all applicable client, legislative and standard requirements
• Manage application of ISO9000/QA processes and procedures, Engineering codes of practice and industry standards

About You

• Tertiary qualification of engineering or equivalent discipline
• Minimum 5 years of design & engineering management experience in heavy engineering, construction industries
• Proven experience renewable EPC projects from ECI, execution and commissioning
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple design consultants on complex, multidisciplinary rail and tunnelling projects, including establishing and managing quality systems to ensure the integrity of design
• Good understanding of Power Generation projects
• Experience working on large scale construction projects or other relevant projects works
• Proven experience in project requirements management, interface management, integration management using Systems Engineering principles
• Strong multi-disciplinary coordination experience
