Seafolly are looking for a Financial Controller to join our Finance team, reporting into the Head of Finance. This is a full-time role, based in our Support Centre in Alexandria, NSW. - Lead financial operations by partnering with key team members and Department Managers to ensure accuracy of financial data, streamline processes, and drive efficiencies through automation and improved documentation.
- Strengthen team capability and performance through effective leadership, including overseeing direct reports, providing regular coaching and feedback, and identifying training and development opportunities.
- Support people management processes by conducting performance reviews, addressing ad hoc performance matters, and mentoring employees in stakeholder management.
- Lead end‑to‑end financial operations and reporting, including cash flow management, period‑end reporting packs, monthly and annual group reporting, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and data integrity across the consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Conduct financial analysis and reviews to provide meaningful insights on variances, inventory valuation, duty and freight allocations, and overall financial performance.
- Ensure accurate financial controls and compliance, including correct recognition and reporting of inventory, maintaining high professional standards, and delivering reliable financial information to the Board and Management Team.
- Strong financial controls and process are maintained to ensure compliance requirements are met across the business.
- Ensuring an environment of strong financial controls is maintained and oversee completion of all necessary general ledger reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Managing the annual audit and statutory reporting processes for the Group.
- Managing the tax compliance for all entities.
You have:
- 5+ years experience in a similar role
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Professional accounting qualification, CA, CPA or MBA (preferred, not must have)
- Ability to prioritise and time-manage effectively
- Logical and methodical approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience managing a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners
- Excel capability - intermediate/Advanced
- Attention to detail
- Takes ownership and accountability
- Proactive problem solving
- Exposure to payroll management
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
