About the role

About the role

Talent International is recruiting an Assistant Director focussing on Wellbeing and Capability for a newly established Australian Government agency.

You will lead the establishment and delivery of injury management, rehabilitation, wellbeing, learning and development, and related work health and safety functions.

Working closely with managers and senior leaders, you will develop practical policies, processes and services that meet the agency's obligations and support a safe, capable workforce.

What you'll do

  • Establish and improve frameworks across rehabilitation, wellbeing, learning and related WHS activities.

  • Provide advice on complex injury management, return-to-work and workplace adjustment matters.

  • Coach managers in early intervention and supporting employees.

  • Identify capability needs and develop practical learning initiatives and tools.

  • Work with Comcare, service providers and internal stakeholders to coordinate outcomes.

  • Prepare advice and reports for senior leaders while supporting the broader HR team.

About you

You bring strong knowledge of injury management and rehabilitation but will also have:

  • Experience identifying learning needs and developing capability-building initiatives.

  • Broad HR knowledge and sound understanding of WHS obligations.

  • The judgement to manage sensitive matters and establish new processes with limited direction.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills.

You do not need to be a WHS specialist, but you must understand the connections between safety, rehabilitation, wellbeing and organisational risk.

Relevant tertiary qualifications are valued but are not essential.
