The Role

This is a hands-on Claims Administrator opportunity supporting workers compensation claims for the Tasmanian public sector. You will help set up and maintain claims, process payments, prepare correspondence, file documents, and respond to routine enquiries from departments, workers, and internal stakeholders. The role suits an organised administrator who can work accurately in a high-volume environment, manage competing priorities, and recognise when a matter needs to be escalated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up new workers compensation claims and maintain complete, accurate, and current records in the claims management system.
  • Process claims payments, check invoices, complete follow-up actions, and maintain supporting documentation in line with agreed requirements.
  • Prepare standard letters and other claims correspondence, and file emails and documents accurately within required timeframes.
  • Respond to routine enquiries from departments, workers, and internal stakeholders, and support monthly and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Assist with archiving and file closure, escalate complex or sensitive matters, and contribute to service quality and process improvement.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in administration, insurance, claims, or a related role, with workers compensation experience viewed favourably.
  • Good understanding of administrative and claims processes, including record management, payment processing, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage a busy workload, competing priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, and a professional, service-focused approach to routine enquiries.
  • Confidence using claims systems and Microsoft Office, with the ability to work independently within delegated authority and collaborate with the broader team.

What's in it for You

  • Initial 6-month assignment with the possibility to extend.
  • Hobart-based, working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm for 37.5 hours per week, with occasional overtime as required.
  • A varied claims administration role with exposure to claim set-up, payment processing, correspondence, reporting, and stakeholder support.
  • Join a collaborative team where accuracy, responsive service, continuous improvement, and a willingness to learn are valued.
