Position overview
The Pacific Security College is funded by the Australian Government and is part of the Crawford School of Public Policy within the ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy at the Australian National University.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator will develop, coordinate and publish a range of content to support the College’s strategic objectives and activities. This may include commissioning, editing and publishing articles for the College’s Pacific Wayfinder blog, producing and editing podcasts, and creating engaging social media content that promotes the College’s work and encourages discussion on issues related to the Boe Declaration on Regional Security and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.

While the position has a core set of responsibilities, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute in ways that align with their interests, skills and professional development goals.

The Person
You will bring demonstrated experience developing, editing and publishing high-quality content across a range of digital and traditional platforms, using relevant software and tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Riverside or similar applications.

You will have demonstrated experience working collaboratively as part of a team and building productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including external partners. Experience in photography, videography or multimedia content production would be highly regarded but is not essential.

You will have a strong interest in the Pacific Islands region and an enthusiasm for identifying and developing engaging content that communicates research, insights and activities related to Pacific security.

The ability to exercise initiative and good judgement, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes is essential.

The College
The Pacific Security College is funded by the Australian Government and sits within Crawford School of Public Policy in the College of Law, Governance and Policy at the Australian National University.

The Pacific Security College works with Pacific Island Countries to build the capacity of officials to deal with a broad range of security challenges through executive and professional development courses, policy workshops, technical assistance and research.

We have a holistic approach to Pacific security, encompassing traditional and non-traditional security issues, taking our lead from the Pacific Islands Forum’s Boe Declaration on Regional Security, the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent and the Blue Pacific Ocean of Peace Declaration.

We work in a spirit of service and collaboration with our Pacific stakeholders in national governments, universities, civil society organisations and regional institutions
