About The Healing Foundation:

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation is a national organisation that elevates the voices and lived experience of Stolen Generations survivors, their families, and their communities.

We work closely with survivors and communities to create environments for survivors to tell their stories and drive their healing. We are committed to the recognition of the Bringing them home report and the realisation of the rights outlined in the report for Stolen Generations and descendants.

We are governed by a Board of First Nations Directors, a Stolen Generations Reference Group, a Youth Reference Group and are led by a First Nations Executive. With our work informed by the Stolen Generations sector – organisations that provide direct support to Stolen Generations survivors in communities across the country.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Advisor Grants and Community Projects to report to the Director and lead programs supporting commemoration and healing for Stolen Generations. Role can be based in either Brisbane or Canberra.

The role provides senior oversight of grants and community projects, including compliance, stakeholder engagement and risk management. Experience with CRM grant systems and participatory grant processes is essential, along with a strong understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and commitment to culturally centred practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the full grant lifecycle including application, award, compliance, reporting and monitoring.
  • Provide senior grants and community project oversight, managing compliance obligations, stakeholder relationships and risk mitigation.
  • Advise organisations on grant applications and funding requirements to ensure alignment with guidelines and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all reporting and governance obligations are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement of grant processes and CRM workflows.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Stolen Generations Organisations and act as the primary senior contact for ACCOs and funding bodies.
  • Prepare concise reports for internal and external stakeholders on progress and outcomes.

Experience, skills and attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience in senior grants or community project oversight, including compliance and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and commitment to culturally centred practice.
  • Experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud) for end-to-end grant management.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capability.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills and strong organisational ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • WWVP check or willingness to obtain.
