About the role At Tomago Aluminium, we’re looking for an experienced Operations Superintendent to lead our large smelting department operations. Reporting to the Department Manager, you’ll take ownership of operational performance—driving safety, production, reliability and people outcomes across a critical part of our plant. This is a high-impact leadership role where your ability to develop teams, improve systems and drive continuous improvement will directly influence our success. You’ll lead and empower teams to deliver safe, reliable and efficient operations, while building a strong culture of performance and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Include

• Championing a strong safety-first (EHS) culture and leading by
• Driving operational performance across production, quality, cost and
• Leading and developing frontline Shift Supervisors through coaching and mentoring
• Partnering with Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability teams to optimise plant performance
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Managing budget and cost performance while identifying opportunities for optimisation
• Supporting people leadership and employee relations
• Aligning operational activities with business strategy and department objectives

What you’ll bring We’re looking for a confident, people-focused leader who can balance operational excellence with strong team engagement. You’ll Succeed In This Role If You Have

• Proven experience in a leadership role within heavy industry, manufacturing or processing
• Demonstrated success improving operational performance and team capability
• Strong people leadership skills, with a passion for coaching and developing others
• A solid track record in safety leadership and risk management
• Experience in continuous improvement, problem solving and operational optimisation
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
• A collaborative approach aligned with our values of Teamwork, Achieve, Care.

Desirable:

• Engineering or related tertiary qualification
• Formal leadership or business qualifications
