Site Supervisor/Manager (BESS)

Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Site Supervisor/Manager to lead onsite operations monitoring the delivery, installation, managing and reporting on the commissioning and integration of our BESS units. This pivotal role requires expertise in WHSE (Workplace Health, Safety, and Environment) practices, technical understanding of electrical commissioning works and a strong focus on quality assurance. The Electrical Supervisor will assume full responsibility, ensuring seamless execution and integration of the installation and commissioning of our advanced energy storage systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate electrical commissioning teams to ensure efficient and smooth operations.
• Oversee the installation of electrical systems, including battery storage units and Power Conversion Systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues to minimise downtime.
• Manage Electrical Sub-contractors and internal commissioning engineers, ensuring they comply with site and company policies
• Provide leadership and mentorship to onsite teams, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration.
• Attend Principal Contractors Supervisor meetings, toolbox talks and relay information on to the site staff, sub-contractors and management.
• Daily reporting of all site activities to management
• Project tracking to ensure project schedule is met
• Oversee and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of electrical systems
• Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs to reduce system failures and extend equipment lifespan
• Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices

Qualifications and Skills

• Electrical trade qualification or degree in Electrical Engineering
• Proven experience in electrical supervision, preferably in renewable energy or battery storage.
• Strong knowledge of electrical standards, safety standards, and renewable energy systems.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with quality assurance principles and reporting systems.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Desirable skills and knowledge

• Experience managing commissioning activities with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), with a clear understanding of key subsystems including Battery Management System (BMS), Power Conversion System (PCS), and EMS/SCADA platforms.
• Prior experience working with or commissioning products from major BESS vendors (e.g., Sungrow, Tesla, Fluence, CATL, Huawei) will be highly regarded.
• South Australian A-Grade Electrical License (or equivalent for other States) will be highly regarded
• Prior exposure to fire suppression systems, HVAC, and protection relays
