The Opportunity Star Scaffolds is a recognised industry leader specialising in high‑quality aluminium and steel safety systems. We are seeking a motivated and detail‑driven Payroll Coordinator to join our team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Finance Director, this hands‑on role plays an important part in supporting payroll and finance operations, while working closely with employees and stakeholders across the business. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, has exceptional attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll and administrative outcomes. The Ideal Candidate You are an experienced Payroll Professional who can confidently manage end‑to‑end payroll processes, including data management, reconciliation, reporting, and auditing. You have previously worked with in‑house payroll systems and are comfortable interpreting awards, enterprise agreements, and organisational terms and conditions. You may have experience with systems such as Meridian, Peoplesoft, or similar payroll platforms. While experience with Pronto Payroll is highly advantageous and is preferred. You are customer‑focused, diligent, and able to work with a strong sense of urgency while meeting strict deadlines. Your excellent attention to detail and clear communication skills allows you to work effectively with employees across the organisation. Beyond the standard Microsoft Office suite, you may also be familiar with business reporting tools. You are an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Key Skills And Experience The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a payroll role (3–5 years’ experience is advantageous)
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, self‑motivated approach with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with payroll systems, Pronto Payroll will be highly regarded
  • Experience in payroll migration from one system to another will be highly regarded

No formal qualifications are required—practical experience and a positive, team‑focused attitude are essential. Role Responsibilities Working closely with the Finance team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate and compliant payroll services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing weekly and monthly payroll cycles with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Validating time and attendance data, ensuring full compliance with company policies and legislative requirements.
  • Calculating and administering payroll adjustments, including deductions, allowances, bonuses, and other variations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and distributing payroll reports and summaries for management and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local payroll legislation, as well as taxation obligations.
  • Maintaining and updating employee payroll records with precision and confidentiality.
  • Responding to employee payroll queries promptly, professionally, and with a strong customer‑service focus.
  • Collaborating with the HR team to ensure employee data is accurate, complete, and consistently maintained across systems.
