As the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll help keep a diverse range of council buildings running smoothly. From community centres to operational facilities, you’ll coordinate maintenance works, work closely with contractors and internal teams, and ensure buildings remain safe, functional and ready for the people who use them every day.

This is a role for someone who enjoys variety and being out and about. Some days you’ll be on site identifying issues and coordinating repairs, while other days you’ll be planning works, managing service providers, or helping ensure maintenance activities meet compliance and asset management standards.

You’ll play an important part in maintaining our facilities for staff, tenants and the wider community, while contributing to planning, budgeting and continuous improvement in how we manage our buildings.

This position includes participation in a rotating after-hours on-call Facilities Maintenance roster, so flexibility is essential.

What your day will look like

Your day will be varied and hands-on, with responsibilities including:

  • Facilitating site condition audits across designated portfolios
  • Coordinating maintenance works to ensure buildings remain safe, functional, and fit for purpose
  • Supervising contractors and facilities service providers to deliver quality work within agreed timeframes
  • Carrying out minor adjustments/repairs where appropriate and safe to do so
  • Responding to maintenance requests and ensuring they are logged and tracked in council systems
  • Administration of work tasks and financial invoicing requirements
  • Liaising with building operators, tenants, and stakeholders to minimise disruption during maintenance works
  • Monitoring contractor performance and service quality across council facilities ensuring value for money outcomes
  • Investigating building issues and preparing reports
  • Supporting compliance with building regulations, essential services requirements, and asset management standards
  • Assisting with maintenance planning and contributing to annual budget preparation
  • Participating in an after-hours call-out roster to support urgent facility issues when required

What you will bring

  • Degree or diploma or trade qualification with relevant experience within the construction or facility management fields
  • A demonstrated understanding of all trades, building elements, building systems, construction techniques and compliance, across the facility management industry
  • Demonstrated experience with Essential Safety Measures compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated contract supervisory skills
  • Skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs, asset management software packages, and TechnologyOne
  • Ability to communicate professionally in both written and oral form
  • Ability to influence outcomes
  • Project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability in budgeting and financial cost control
  • Demonstrated ability to triage maintenance requests and manage after-hours issues safely and efficiently
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Construction Induction (White) Card
  • Working with Children Check are mandatory
