About the role

Our Local Laws Officers help keep Wyndham’s neighbourhoods safe, clean and enjoyable by making sure local laws and regulations are followed. This involves working directly with residents, businesses and other members of the community to provide information and education, respond to concerns and, where necessary, take enforcement action.

No two days are the same. You could be responding to a customer request, inspecting a property, following up on a complaint about litter or a building site, or speaking with a member of the community about their responsibilities under local laws.

This role will suit you if you enjoy working with people, solving problems and spending time out in the community. Bring your community compliance experience and ‘can do’ attitude to join the Local Laws team in keeping Wyndham clean, safe and presentable.

What your day will look like

  • Proactive work regarding local laws, litter, and building site compliance
  • Responding to customer requests
  • Planning and coordinating your daily workload
  • Conducting site visits and inspections
  • Engaging with the local community
  • Working with internal teams and other stakeholders to resolve issues

What you will bring

  • Experience in regulatory services, compliance or a similar community-based environment is desirable
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with people across a range of situations
  • The ability to assess situations, solve problems and make sound decisions
  • Confidence working autonomously and managing your own workload
  • Good computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Empathy, resilience and the ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult or confronting situations

If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
