The Impact of the Trade Shortage
Alex Jenks, CEO of NextMinute, highlighted the devastating impacts of this shortage, stating, "They're slowing down projects, driving up costs, and putting pressure on business owners." The government's ambitious aim of building 1.2 million homes by 2029 is further straining these industries.
Government vs. SEEK Data Disparity
Interestingly, there's a stark difference between the number of job vacancies reported by the government and those listed on SEEK. For instance, while SEEK lists 21,994 job ads for labourers, the government's data shows only 713 vacancies.
