Belvoir St Theatre is seeking an Artistic Administrator to help realise bold Australian theatre and support the artists who bring it to life. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of creativity and rigour, playing a central role in shaping and delivering Belvoir’s artistic program.
Role Overview and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Producing and working closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director, this role sits at the heart of the Company’s producing and artistic operations. You will provide high-level support across casting, contracts, licensing, and industrial compliance, while also contributing to producing, company management, and artist care to ensure productions are delivered smoothly and in line with industry agreements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting casting across all Belvoir productions, liaising with agents, coordinating auditions, and assisting directors to identify artists
- Drafting and negotiating contracts for actors and creative personnel, ensuring compliance with relevant awards and agreements
- Managing play licences, commissions, and other rights and permissions required for productions
- Maintaining strong relationships with industry bodies and unions, and monitoring changes to awards and agreements
- Supporting co-productions, touring initiatives, and creative developments, including budget and grant processes
- Working closely with Marketing to ensure accurate billing and artist representation in all materials
- Providing company management and artist care support across rehearsals, seasons, and tours
Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong administrative skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Is able to deal sensitively and constructively with artists and creative teams
- Has experience working within a theatre company or arts organisation
- Understands the role of producers within a major performing arts organisation
- Brings curiosity, initiative, and a genuine commitment to Belvoir’s artistic vision and place within the Australian cultural landscape
