Location: Tasmania, Australia (Primary), with Travel to Support Other Projects Across Australia
About AERIUM Analytics
AERIUM Analytics Inc. is a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) technology company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. AERIUM develops and deploys innovative drone-based technologies, including its proprietary RoBird® platform and best-in-class real-time detection and reporting solutions.
AERIUM Analytics is currently commercializing RoBird in Australia — one of the most promising and active markets for advanced, non-lethal bird deterrence. RoBird is a falcon-shaped drone modelled on the peregrine falcon that triggers a genuine, instinctive avoidance response in pest bird species.
As we grow our Australian operations, we are building a local pilot team to serve agricultural clients across the country. This is an early-stage market entry — a rare opportunity to be part of a small, high-impact team at the ground floor of something genuinely new and growing.
The Opportunity
This is an entry-level RPAS pilot role focused on RoBird flight operations across Australian agricultural environments. The successful candidate will begin with supported deployments alongside existing team members, and will take on increasing responsibility as they gain experience with the RoBird platform and AERIUM’s operational standards.
As the Australian program grows, there is a clear pathway for this role to evolve toward greater regional autonomy, potential lead pilot responsibilities, and more locally-based operations as the client base develops. We are building for the long term, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) of the RoBird RPAS during agricultural bird deterrence operations
- Complete ground and flight operations including mission planning, briefing, execution, and debriefing
- Maintain flight and operational safety at all times, including ground crew supervision
- Travel to client sites across Australia, including regional and rural agricultural properties
- Document operations and contribute to ongoing reporting and performance data
- Represent AERIUM professionally with clients in the field
What We’re Looking For
We are open to candidates at the start of their RPAS career who demonstrate strong safety instincts, a willingness to learn, and the kind of adaptability that comes with working in remote agricultural environments. You don’t need to have flown commercially for years, but you do need to be dependable, motivated, and genuinely interested in the intersection of drone technology and wildlife management.
Required
- Have or ability to obtain the CASA Operator accreditation certificate for remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) prior to start
- Safety-first attitude and sound aeronautical decision-making
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication skills and professional conduct in client-facing field environments
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing conditions
- Valid Australian driver’s licence
- Valid passport
- Willingness to travel extensively across Australia
Bonus Skills
- Quadcopter / multi-rotor flight experience
- Fixed-wing RPAS experience
- Model aircraft or flapping-wing drone experience
- AROC (Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate)
- First Aid, Wildlife Awareness, or relevant safety certifications
- Bird and wildlife identification knowledge
- Experience working in agricultural or rural environments
What We Offer
- Competitive daily contract rate, commensurate with experience
- Full RoBird platform training provided prior to deployment
- Travel and operational logistics covered for deployments
- A front-row seat to an early-stage technology entering a high-growth market
- Real potential to grow into a senior or lead pilot role as Australian operations expand
- The chance to work across some of Australia’s most interesting agricultural regions
How to Apply
If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please send your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your RPAS experience and why you’re interested in joining a growing wildlife management technology company at this stage. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
