APS 6 Clinician – Client Assist
- Brisbane based
- Baseline Security Clearance Mandatory
- Length of Contract: 12 months (37.5 hours per week)

We are seeking candidates who thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment, who are able to commit to a rostered 24/7 work environment and who possess experience in mental health settings providing intake and assessment and, evidence-based brief counselling intervention. Candidates will be able to apply knowledge and experience gained from a relevant background in psychology, social work, occupational therapy, or nursing with the ability to apply a holistic lens to their work. Candidates will demonstrate and enhance a positive team culture as frontline representatives of the Open Arms service and as APS employees.
Candidates will have demonstrated experience in working with a telephone based clinical service or, an understanding of the opportunities and challenges of working within a call centre environment.
Key Skills required as an APS 6 Client Assist Clinician include:
- Excellent interpersonal skills with competency in the provision of trauma informed, holistic, client centred intake, assessment and brief intervention with vulnerable clients;
- Ability to complete clinically appropriate intake assessment and documentation with formulated risk assessments which are tailored, appropriate, and actioned in accordance with presenting risk;
- Currency of knowledge in relation to DVA matters, Open Arms and Client Assist policies, adherence to DVA policies and procedures including Risk Escalation pathways, reporting and documentation;
- High level of written and verbal communication skills;
- Sound judgement and the ability to respond to critical incidents in a calm and timely manner;
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to confidently navigate IT equipment and software.
Mandatory Requirements
- Currently hold or ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People registration OR
- Currently hold or ability to obtain a Working with Children check
