Mechatronics Engineer – UGVs & Military RF SystemsBe part of the mission to design and deploy Defence capability and firefighting robotic systems.

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechatronics Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team focused on developing next-generation Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) for firefighting and embedded systems fordefence applications.

You'll work at the intersection of robotics, RF communications, embedded systems, and ruggedised mechanical design, helping to deliver field-ready, standards-compliant solutions that operate in the harshest environments on earth.

🛠️ What You’ll Do:

• Design and integrate UGV mechatronic systems from concept to deployment.
• Develop RF and electronic control systems to meet military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-461/MIL-STD-810).
• Design PCBs for harsh environments with RF, power, and digital circuitry.
• Create robust mechanical enclosures and moving parts using 3D CAD and DFM practices.
• Build and test prototypes including fire-resistant, IP-rated, and shockproof designs.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to ensure system-level reliability and performance.
• Prepare documentation for compliance, defence tenders, and production readiness.

✅ What You Bring:

• 5 years in mechatronics, robotics, or defence electronics.
• Hands-on experience with UGVs, RF communications, and embedded systems.
• Proficiency in Altium, Autodesk Inventor /SolidWorks, and embedded C/C++.
• Familiarity with military and industrial standards (MIL-STD-461/810, IP67/68).
• Familiarity with Visual Studio Code for embedded development.
• Understanding of plastic and metal part design for harsh environments.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to get hands-on in the lab and field.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with thermal and EO cameras, infrared sensors, semi-autonomous navigation, or fire systems.
• IBM DOORs NG for requirements development and management.
• Background in secure communications or cyber-resilient embedded platforms.
• Prior involvement in defence or defence R&D projects.
