Role Overview:
As our R&D Chemist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that we have a strong pipeline of products, and the ability to meet the quality standards that we commit to. Your ability to execute your tasks will be key in achieving our strategic goals and upholding our position in the marketplace. This role is lab based and involves hands-on formulation, testing and analysis or mortars, self-leveling compounds and waterproofing systems. You’ll work closely with a supportive team and participate in exciting projects that shape the future of our industry. The role is based at our Kings Park office in NSW.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain, develop and optimise formulations for Cementitious and Water Based products including self-compounds, tile adhesives, screeds, repair mortars, waterproofing, primers.
- Deliver New Product Development (NPD) & Product Maintenance (PM) & Technical Assistance (TA) projects in time & quality (Stage gate), engaging with all key stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly reports and detailed technical reports.
- Perform analysis on new, potential, existing and competitor products (benchmarking).
- Support Operations to transfer & scale up products, connecting the dots of Product, Process & Quality specifications.
- Work with other functions such as Marketing, Operations/Quality, PSRA, Purchasing, updating BOMs, in accordance with agreed priorities and deadlines.
- Analyse failure modes and troubleshoot product or process issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of research activities, test results, and formulation data.
- Support sustainability initiatives by integrating low-carbon and recycled materials.
- Safety: Be aware of, and keep up to date with, health and safety issues in all aspects of the work undertaken and ensure health and safety policies are respected
- Always adhere to safety policies.
- Collaborate with peers and key stakeholders to complete assigned tasks.
- Stay updated on training activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve process and mitigate risks / hazards.
What We’re Looking For:
- Diploma, Degree or Master Science in a related field (Chemistry or Material Science major preferred)
- 2-3 years of experience in R&D, formulating adhesives would be preferable and in particular in formulating cementitious products or construction materials would be a significant advantage.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as rheometers, tensile machine, mixers, etc.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently to complete tasks
- Physically fit and active to carry out duties as required, including prolonged period of standing when carrying out laboratory works.
- Punctual and reliable.
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety practices and commit to OH&S principles.
