Broadsheet Media is looking for a Travel Editor to join our team. This role is a part time position (two days per week). This is an opportunity to have a significant impact on one of Australia’s most reputable and innovative digital publishers. The Travel Editor is the lead producer of travel content for the Broadsheet website. You will ensure every story meets our standards for quality, design, and originality, helping readers navigate travel with confidence. You will produce a stream of personality filled, savvy content that uncovers singular stays and experiences that bypass generic getaways. You will also oversee a dedicated fortnightly travel newsletter, making it a must-subscribe for the discerning traveller. Key ResponsibilitiesContent Creation & Curation
- Identifying leads, researching, reporting, and writing original travel news and signature series that resonates with a Broadsheet audience
- Commissioning and editing, and managing internal and external contributors to ensure all content meets Broadsheet’s editorial standards in tone and style
- Growing a network of travel insiders to provide expert, taste making intel
- Identifying, developing and nurturing key travel PR contacts
- Managing freelance contributors including briefing, deadline management and following other internal process
Travel Newsletter Production
- Fortnightly newsletter production, building and sending the travel newsletter
- Creating exclusive in email content
- Working with Social team to create weekly promo posts
- Working with Studio and clients on competition prizes and design material for acquisition incentives.
Performance Analysis
- Monitoring and reporting on the performance of both website content and the newsletter to inform future editorial decisions.
About You We are looking for:
- A strategic thinker with a demonstrated understanding of audience behaviour and how to use insights to inform content decisions
- A meticulous editor with an appreciation for high quality visual assets and brand alignment
- Someone who is self motivated, consistently meets deadlines and thrives in a fast paced, high pressure news environment
- A team focused member who values open mindedness and honest communication, working cross functionally with other business departments
- Experience with Asana and Canva is highly regarded
