The Team: The Finance and Business Support team within Hospitals South partners with clinical and operational services to provide expert advice and support across financial management, workforce planning, procurement, reporting, service planning and business improvement. Working collaboratively across the Department of Health, the team helps ensure healthcare services are well-resourced, financially sustainable and focused on delivering safe, high-quality care to improve the health and wellbeing of the Tasmanian community. The Role: Deliver expert business and financial advice, manage budgets and reporting, support procurement and planning activities, lead business improvement initiatives, and partner with operational leaders to support the delivery of effective and sustainable healthcare services.

  • Provide strategic business expertise and advice to the Manager – Finance and Business and senior operational staff, across a broad range of matters including financial, procurement, human resources, policies, projects and asset management.
  • Oversee the business requirements of the relevant unit within Hospitals South, including budget, financial management and procurement, to support the effective use of allocated resources.

You will need:

  • Extensive knowledge, skills and experience in a business management, business partnering or business advisory role, preferably within a health context.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in electronic financial and human resource systems, together with skills and experience in developing and preparing integrated business reports.
  • High level strategic, conceptual, creative and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively plan and prioritise activities and make sound judgements to support organisational objectives and strategies.

Why Tasmania: The Department of Health Tasmania oversees various hospitals across the state, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, Launceston General Hospital, Northwest Regional Hospital, and Mersey Community Hospital, as well as district hospitals and ambulance services. Additionally, it provides community health, mental health, and primary healthcare services to the Tasmanian community through more than 300 sites. Details of appointment: Multiple permanent full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies. Salary: $111,754 to $126,579 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
