We are seeking a motivated and professional Animal Management Officer to join our Public Compliance team. In this rewarding and varied role, you'll work directly with the community to promote responsible animal ownership, investigate animal-related matters, and help maintain a safe and well-managed municipality. No two days are the same, with a mix of field-based work, investigations, community education, and regulatory enforcement. About The Role As an Animal Management Officer, you will be a frontline representative of Council, providing responsive and professional animal management services that support community safety, animal welfare, and legislative compliance. Working closely with residents, stakeholders, and partner agencies, you will investigate complaints, educate the community, enforce relevant legislation, and contribute to positive outcomes for both people and animals. Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate animal-related complaints, incidents, and customer requests.
  • Interview complainants, animal owners, and witnesses and gather evidence.
  • Provide advice, education, and support to encourage responsible animal ownership.
  • Patrol the municipality and impound wandering or stray animals when required.
  • Issue statutory correspondence, warnings, and infringement notices.
  • Administer and enforce relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation using Council's digital systems.
  • Assist in identifying and managing operational risks within Animal Management activities.
  • Contribute to policy and procedure reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Council's after-hours animal management emergency response roster.
  • Assist with investigations relating to fire risks on privately owned land when required.

About You You are a resilient and customer-focused professional who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. You can confidently manage challenging situations, communicate effectively with a diverse range of people, and make fair and well-reasoned decisions. Essential Requirements

  • Certificate IV in a relevant discipline, or a willingness to obtain.
  • Current Class A Driver's Licence.

Skills And Experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution and customer service capabilities.
  • Demonstrated initiative, resilience, and accountability.
  • Sound knowledge of animal behaviour, animal handling, and animal management practices.
  • Ability to interpret legislation, policies, and procedures and apply them appropriately.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • High level of digital literacy and attention to detail.
  • Experience maintaining records, managing evidence, and preparing regulatory documentation.

Position Details

  • Full-Time, 76 hours fortnight.
  • Annual salary - $74,668.67
