Role Description – Gearbox Fitter Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Gearbox Fitter Specialist to join our Newcastle, NSW team on a full-time, on-site basis.

This role is dedicated to the repair, overhaul, and rebuild of industrial gearboxes and related power transmission equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Disassembling, inspecting, diagnosing, and rebuilding industrial gearboxes.
• Precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of gearbox components.
• Machining, measuring, and tolerancing to manufacturer or engineered specifications.
• Conducting preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure equipment reliability.
• Reading and interpreting technical diagrams, manuals, and engineering drawings.
• Maintaining a strong commitment to safety and workshop best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or related discipline.
• Proven hands-on experience in gearbox fitting, repair, and rebuilds.
• Strong understanding of power transmission systems and rotating equipment.
• Skilled in precision machining, measuring, and fitting techniques.
• High attention to detail with excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances and engineering specifications.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and compliance standards.
• Previous experience in an industrial gearbox workshop will be highly regarded.
