The Organisation

This is a well backed, fast growing EPC business with strong global capital behind it and a leadership team that has been in the industry for decades. They self perform across civil, electrical and high voltage disciplines, delivering wind farm HV, BESS, Balance of Plant and substation projects that connect renewable energy to the national grid.

The business is growing quickly and the work is real. They are not a EPCwho subcontracts everything out. They have the capability in house and they are building something significant.

The Role

As Head of HSE you will take full ownership of the safety function across the business. This means leading the strategy, owning the systems and being the person the executive team turns to when it comes to keeping people safe and the business compliant.

You will be based in Brisbane CBD with a hybrid working arrangement and will work closely with site based HSE Advisers, project managers and the broader leadership team to make sure safety is genuinely embedded across every project and every discipline.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk and review documents. The business needs a leader who understands the field, can build trust with site teams and can translate good safety culture into practical outcomes on the ground.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Leading the HSE function across a portfolio of wind farm HV, BESS, BOP and substation projects delivered nationally
• Managing and improving an established Safety Management System as the business continues to grow
• Owning OFSC accreditation and ISO 45001 certification and ensuring both are maintained and current
• Supporting and developing site based HSE Advisers so they have what they need to do their jobs well
• Working alongside project and operations leadership to make sure safety obligations are understood and met across all disciplines
• Monitoring and reporting on HSE performance at an executive and board level
• Keeping the business across its legislative and regulatory obligations in all relevant jurisdictions
• Identifying risk across civil, electrical and HV scopes and putting the right controls in place

What They Are Looking For

• A senior HSE professional with a strong background in construction, EPC, renewable energy or high voltage environments
• Someone who genuinely understands the risks that come with civil, electrical and HV work and has managed them at scale
• Proven experience achieving and maintaining ISO 45001 certification
• Solid working knowledge of OFSC accreditation requirements
• Experience building or significantly improving a safety management system across a growing business
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with everyone from site personnel to the board
• Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or a related field
• Post graduate or professional HSE qualifications will be well regarded

Remuneration and Benefits

• Base Salary $220,000 to $250,000 per annum
• Superannuation Paid in addition to base salary
