Job Description

Posted on: May 22, 2026

Osborne Richardson is proud to partner with councils and state government clients right across Australia, and we've got a cracking contractor opportunity on the Gold Coast for an Advisor (Governance) who knows their way around board papers, dashboards and program reporting. The client is a Queensland state government department responsible for planning, designing, building and maintaining the state-controlled road network — and this role sits within their South Coast Region team in Nerang. We're talking more than 1,000 km of highway and state-controlled roads, and a portfolio that includes some of South East Queensland's biggest road jobs: the M1 Upgrade, the Coomera Connector and the Natural Disaster Program. The Governance team is the engine room behind how these programs are run, reported and reviewed. If you like bringing structure to complexity, and you fancy your numbers and your minutes equally, this one will suit you down to the ground. What's on offer:A sensational pay rate ranging from $69.21 to $75.09 per hour + Super, full-time, based in Nerang, with genuine exposure to some of the biggest road infrastructure programs in South East Queensland. The role:

  • Preparing agendas and minutes for program leadership meetings, steering committees and program boards
  • Pulling together and analysing financial and risk documentation for the Principal Advisor (Governance)
  • Building and maintaining dashboards that track project risk, issues and spend against budget
  • Monthly program performance reporting through 3PCM software
  • Running the monthly risk management review and reporting cycle
  • Advising Project Managers, Project Directors and PLTs on governance structure and reporting requirements
  • Preparing and reviewing project and program information for advice to the Federal Government
  • Managing Indigenous reporting for the region and tightening up data accuracy where you can
  • Owning the reporting and analysis of Government Election Commitments (GECs) into the Regional Program Board
  • Liaising with external parties and supporting financial processes under the departmental procurement and governance framework

To help you prepare, here's what we are seeking:

  1. Demonstrated experience in a governance, program management office (PMO) or project controls role, ideally within an infrastructure, transport or major projects environment.
  2. Strong experience preparing agendas, minutes and board-ready papers for senior leadership and steering committees.
  3. Sound working knowledge of financial and risk reporting in a project/program setting — reviewing data, spotting the story, and turning it into advice leadership can use.
  4. Confidence building and refining dashboards to track risk, issues and spend (Power BI or advanced Excel highly regarded).
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate messy data into something a board can act on.
  6. A structured, detail-oriented approach to governance, compliance and reporting cycles.
  7. Current Queensland 'C' class driver's licence with your own vehicle (you'll be travelling between sites, TMR offices and face-to-face meetings — travel costs are not reimbursed).

Previous experience reporting into a Federal Government client, exposure to Government Election Commitments reporting, and prior use of 3PCM (or similar program controls software) will all be highly regarded. You'll also need to undergo employment screening, including a criminal history check, as part of the selection process. As always, we are happy to chat about anything and everything governance, infrastructure and government contracting, so please feel free to give Owen Millar a shout on 0414 706 605 or email Owen@oraus.com.au. Always happy to chat.
