PPG is an American Fortune 500 company and global supplier of paints, coatings, and specialty materials. We are currently looking for a Customer Development Chemist to work in our Clayton lab and provide technical expertise to manufacturing and sales in support of existing paint products and to use this expertise to help develop and introduce new products. The successful candidate will ensure swift technical support to manufacturing cells and drive quality improvement plans to improve efficiency and lower costs. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, formulate and test new products
- Under guidance and supervision, maintain and improve existing products
- Provide technical advice to sales, marketing and customers
- Conduct testing and verification of alternate sources of raw materials
- Optimize formulas to help improve manufacturing efficiency
- Achieving product quality at minimum cost
Skills And Experience
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent with a chemistry major, or significant industry experience
- 2-4 years’ experience in the surface coatings industry gained in product development and technical service
- Good understanding of the market and customer base
- Knowledge of relevant paint application processes
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes
