Raytheon Field Engineering is seeking a Senior Fire Control System (FCS) Technician with extensive hands-on AEGIS Combat System experience to support the AEGIS Program. In this role, you will represent Raytheon while supporting major contractors, the U.S. Government, the U.S. Navy, and the Royal Australian Navy. Services provided will be in accordance with Lockheed Martin and U.S. Navy / Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customer requirements in the installation, technical writing, personnel training, operations, maintenance, and modification/upgrade of the AN/SPY Radar Transmitter System. You will provide technical field engineering services supporting the Royal Australian Navy in Adelaide, Australia, including installation, technical documentation, personnel training, operations, maintenance, and modification of the Mk 99 Fire Control System (FCS). You will also ensure systems are operating properly, troubleshoot issues, and maintain peak operational readiness. You will learn the AN/SPY Radar Transmitter System and upon completion of Australia assignment tasks will include, but are not limited to, the installation of SPY reliability/upgrade ORDALT’s to bring SPY-1 transmitters up to current revisions. This role will be onsite in Adelaide, Australia, for a 1-year long-term assignment with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a potential extension. Employment is contingent upon meeting all medical requirements for overseas assignments including comprehensive post-offer medical examination. What You Will Do
- Deliver complex technical field engineering services to Lockheed Martin, U.S. Navy, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers. Responsibilities include installation, technical writing, personnel training, operations, maintenance, and modification of the Mk 99 Fire Control System (FCS) per customer requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Aegis Technical Representatives, U.S. Navy, and FMS personnel, ensuring effective and tactful communication.
- Collaborate closely with Lockheed Martin System Engineering teams to support the integration of the MK-99 Fire Control System with Aegis Weapon Systems and Aegis Combat Systems.
- Provide in-depth technical support on RF, microwave, and radar systems.
- Deliver comprehensive training to U.S. Navy and FMS personnel.
- Contribute technical field engineering expertise to support Program Management Office (PMO) special tasks.
- Provide integration support for the Aegis Operation Readiness Test System (ORTS), Aegis Weapon System, Aegis Combat System computer program test environments, and next-generation naval systems, including Aegis (domestic and FMS), Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), and Multi-Mission Signal Processor.
- Maintain AEGIS documentation, generate feedback reports for Program Management and Quality Assurance, and propose solutions to complex technical problems.
- Ensure equipment availability of 99% or greater through effective troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance programs. Maintain performance and maintenance records for equipment.
- Analyze equipment failures, determine root causes, and recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit reports detailing equipment discrepancies and potential solutions. Generate weekly status reports for Program Management.
- Develop test procedures and provide support for special Navy-directed experiments and test events.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues at the cabinet and system levels, leveraging expertise in RF, microwave, and radar systems.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s and a minimum of 5+ years prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3+ years’ experience.
- Aegis “C” School on AEGIS FCS Transmitters & DCC MK15 training.
- Training and proficiency in Basic Electronics & Electricity, including RF, Digital & Analog principles, solid-state electronics, and Microwave theory and principles.
- Hands-on experience working with the AEGIS Weapon System, including military complex AEGIS equipment.
- Hands-on experience with wire wrapping, soldering, and the use of general hand tools as well as electrical tools.
- Proven ability to lead installations and projects, with expertise in working around high-voltage systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Comprehensive understanding of electronics, tools and test equipment, radar coolant systems and repair, radar concepts and principles, Operational Readiness Test Systems (ORTS), and industry practices.
- General knowledge of basic radio frequency (RF) cable construction, electrical multi-pin connectors, and their repair.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Degree in Technical field is preferred.
- Aegis “C” School on AEGIS SPY-1D & SPY-1D(V) Transmitters training.
- Experience working on SPY Transmitter variants & FCS Transmitters.
- Working knowledge of electronics, RF principles and calculations, digital and analog principles and the ability to troubleshoot.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills to orchestrate job tasks between multiple group organizations.
- Ability to communicate with peers, superiors and customers in a positive manner.
- Intermediate computer knowledge with MS Word processing and spreadsheet creation.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
