We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate design activities for the successful delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects. This full-time role, based in Adelaide, offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in multidisciplinary engineering while working on innovative solutions that make a tangible impact. As a Design Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and meet agreed specifications. You will act as the key client contact for all engineering-related activities, collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to deliver high-quality outcomes. The role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of engineering and design outcomes across multiple disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil).
- Develop and maintain design management plans, schedules, clarifications registers, RFIs, and change management records.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding engineering activities, including attending site visits and meetings.
- Collaborate with sales and pre-contracts teams to develop technical and commercial solutions.
- Mentor and coach multidisciplinary design teams to improve quality and timeliness of work.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and standardisation in design processes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Australia is desirable).
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in the water/wastewater treatment industry.
- Strong knowledge of membrane/filtration technologies and ISO Quality Management Systems.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with culturally diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical problem-solving abilities combined with strong organisational skills.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Site-based installation and commissioning expertise.
- Basic knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical & instrumentation, process, civil).
