OF REPORTING POSITIONS: None GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: St. Lucia Job Summary The Senior Business Development Officer is responsible for recruiting and retaining a high-quality portfolio of credit products with a primary focus on new vehicles and personal mortgage offering. The incumbent will be expected to make a significant contribution in the achievement of Sagicor Finance Inc’s credit sales growth targets through the direct selling of all consumer and mortgage finance related products and proactively identify new sales opportunities. Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Contributes to Sagicor Finance Inc’s credit sales & deposit growth targets through the direct selling of all mortgages, consumer finance related products and fixed deposits.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with new vehicle dealerships, real estate agents, property developers, lawyers, large businesses and other key stakeholders to sustain a strong pipeline of business opportunities.
- Manages and grows the existing portfolio by building and broadening the scope of the client relationship and increasing wallet share of the customers.
- Focuses on providing world class personalized and professional service to all existing and new customers.
- Continually mine Sagicor Finance Inc’s portfolio, to proactively identify and contact future loan prospects for additional financing.
- Provides a consultancy-based approach to customers, involving other members of the team as needed especially for new fixed deposits.
- Ensures all complaints and customer queries are resolved in a timely manner.
- Continuously monitors competitor’s new vehicle, consumer loans and mortgage product offers and sales activities and makes recommendations on new product and /or marketing approaches designed to create/retain a competitive edge in the new vehicles and mortgage sales market.
- Ensures compliance with internal and external service level agreements (SLAs) and actively follows up all breaches to ensure that there is no degradation of service to customers. This includes ongoing relationship management with new vehicle dealerships, quantity surveyors, appraisers and lawyers involved in the end-to-end loan application process.
- Organizes and assists Senior Management in the implementation of new business development activities such as loan promotions.
- Educate supporting team members about customers’ businesses, key needs and requirements on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure customers are referred to appropriate team members for service needs, questions and to provide solutions.
- Monitors and ensures adherence to risk service standards on legislation relating to “know your customer”, money laundering, and other compliance responsibilities & issues.
- Follow up on loans in arrears 1-10 days to help with the reduction in delinquency.
Knowledge & Skills Required Education/ Experience
- An experienced lender with a Bachelor’s Degree Qualification or a minimum of five years lending experience and demonstrated sales success.
- Experience in selling, negotiating, and relating with customers.
- Experience in identifying new business opportunities and sound knowledge of the local market.
Critical Knowledge & Skills Required
- In depth knowledge of credit application processing from application to disbursement.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the mortgage and consumer offerings of competitors in the local market.
- Competency in all aspects of credit analysis and a thorough knowledge of the principles of lending.
- In depth understanding of credit risk management across the product range.
- Sound knowledge of the market as well as economic conditions and trends.
- Knowledge of business development techniques, and the ability to identify opportunities, plan and develop incremental lending business.
- Well-developed knowledge of credit policies and procedures and the ability to apply these keeping within Sagicor Finance Inc.
- Excellent selling, influencing, and negotiating skills.
- Good numeracy skills including an understanding of accounting principles and the interpretation of financial ratios.
- High degree of initiative, decisiveness, and confidence.
- Results orientation with ability to deliver excellent results.
- Key ability to build relationships / partnerships and work in a matrix environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Time management, planning and organizing.
