Full Job Description Shadbolt Group is a specialist provider of fabrication, mechanical, and welding services across Australia. With a reputation built on quality workmanship, safety, and reliability, and are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead our Pakenham workshop operations. We are seeking a hands-on Workshop Manager to lead daily workshop operations, coordinate trades and resources, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role will suit a motivated leader with a strong fabrication or welding background who enjoys mentoring teams and maintaining high standards in a fast-paced workshop environment. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily workshop operations, including production scheduling, labour and resource allocation, workflow coordination, and machinery maintenance to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Monitor manufacturing output, quality standards, and team performance to ensure customer delivery requirements are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, HR and Project Management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, welding standards, and Australian quality requirements
- Monitor production progress, prepare reports, and manage inspection/testing programs with the QA/QC team
- Mentor and lead a skilled workforce and subcontractors, effectively managing workloads, performance, and resources to optimise productivity and maintain a safe working environment.
- Lead by example, maintaining a strong presence on the shop floor, and fostering a positive, accountable culture focused on safety, teamwork, and high-quality outcomes.
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Workshop Manager
- Strong background in steel fabrication and welding environments
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Trade qualification in Fabrication, Boilermaking, or similar is desirable but not essential.
- Experience managing medium to large teams on the workshop floor
- Ability to drive productivity and meet tight production deadlines
- Solid understanding of workplace health & safety practices
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
