Sharon AI is building the infrastructure powering the next generation of artificial intelligence. As Australia's sovereign AI cloud infrastructure provider, we're creating world-class GPU cloud platforms that enable enterprises, researchers and government organisations to accelerate AI innovation at scale.

As we continue our rapid growth, we're seeking an exceptional Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to build and lead our global Accounting function. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing the financial governance, reporting capability and accounting infrastructure required to support one of Australia's fastest-growing technology businesses.

This is a rare opportunity for a technically outstanding accounting leader who enjoys building scalable finance functions, leading high-performing teams and partnering closely with executive leadership during periods of significant growth.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead Sharon AI's global Accounting function, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial reporting across all domestic and international entities while building a scalable, best-practice accounting function to support rapid business growth.
  • Own the Company's technical accounting framework, including accounting policy, US GAAP, AASB and IFRS compliance, group consolidations, foreign currency accounting, transfer pricing support, intercompany accounting and complex accounting matters across the Group.
  • Lead the preparation of consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting, taxation, regulatory and corporate governance obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Establish and continuously strengthen robust financial controls, governance frameworks, accounting policies and risk management practices that support sustainable growth while maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, taxation advisers and regulatory authorities, leading external audits, statutory reporting and regulatory compliance activities across the organisation.
  • Partner closely with the CFO and Executive Leadership Team to provide technical accounting expertise for capital raising, corporate transactions, international expansion, due diligence activities, financing arrangements and other strategic business initiatives.
  • Oversee treasury accounting, balance sheet integrity, working capital reporting and financial risk controls, ensuring accurate financial management and informed decision-making across the business.
  • Drive finance transformation by leading ERP implementations, accounting systems enhancements, automation initiatives and continuous process improvements that improve efficiency, reporting quality and scalability.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing Accounting team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration and continuous professional development.
  • Identify emerging accounting, regulatory and compliance risks, providing practical, commercially sound recommendations that strengthen governance, improve reporting quality and support Executive Leadership in making informed business decisions.

What We're Looking For

  • CPA Australia or CA ANZ qualified with 10+ years' progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role such as Chief Accounting Officer, Group Financial Controller or Head of Accounting.
  • Advanced technical accounting expertise across US GAAP, AASB, IFRS, Australian taxation legislation and corporate reporting obligations, with the ability to interpret and apply complex accounting standards in a high-growth environment.
  • Extensive experience leading consolidated financial reporting, statutory reporting, external audits, taxation compliance, financial governance, internal controls and regulatory reporting across complex organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of group consolidations, foreign currency accounting, treasury accounting, transfer pricing, intercompany accounting and balance sheet management within multi-entity or international businesses.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling accounting functions, implementing ERP systems, improving financial processes and leading finance transformation and automation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to establish robust accounting policies, governance frameworks and financial controls that support organisational growth while maintaining compliance and reporting integrity.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting capital raising, corporate transactions, due diligence and strategic business initiatives through technical accounting expertise and sound financial judgement.
  • Executive leadership experience developing and mentoring high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to identify accounting risks, navigate complex technical issues and provide practical, commercially balanced solutions.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering effectively with Executive Leadership, Boards, auditors, regulators, investors and external advisers.
