About Us
Tiimely is a platform technology company leading the future of financial assessment through predictive and explainable AI, and configurable, API-led solutions. Our proprietary technology automates financial assessment and credit decisioning, enabling faster, more accurate outcomes across a range of use cases, and is licensed by large banks, fintechs, ASX-listed brands and our own in-house retail business, Tiimely Home.
Headquartered in Adelaide with a national team of 120, we're on a mission to transform how Australians access credit through cutting-edge technology and a human-first approach. As a certified B Corp, our values — Time to be Human, Time to Take Responsibility, Time to be Transparent, and Time to Build Good Bonds — shape how we build products and how we work together.
The Position
At Tiimely, we need engineers who can independently deliver high-quality backend software within a regulated fintech environment.
As a Software Engineer, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of secure, scalable backend services and integrations across our web, integration, and credit decisioning platforms. While primarily backend-focused, you'll collaborate with Front End Engineers to ensure seamless integration and cohesive product delivery.
You'll work within a domain-rich environment as our platform processes real credit applications in a regulated financial services context. Understanding how your code supports lending workflows, compliance requirements, and customer outcomes is part of what makes this role distinctive.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and implement backend services and APIs that power Tiimely's platform, using established architectural patterns and coding standards.
- Deliver backend components and features end-to-end, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Write clean, secure, and maintainable code that contributes to engineering quality standards.
- Own the quality of your work through solid unit, integration, and API contract test coverage.
- Collaborate with Test Engineers to define appropriate testing strategies and quality gates.
- Collaborate with Front End Engineers to ensure backend APIs are designed for usability and clarity.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and reliability risks.
- Own CI/CD contributions for your services, ensuring safe and repeatable deployments.
- Implement secure coding standards and comply with financial services regulatory requirements.
- Participate fully in code reviews, driving continuous improvement in code quality.
- Contribute to technical documentation including design specs and architectural decision records.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, planning, and estimation.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, sharing knowledge across the team.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Demonstrated experience in backend software development within modern product engineering environments.
- Deep expertise in .NET Core (MVC and Web APIs), C#, MSSQL, and event-driven architecture.
- Solid understanding of SOA, Microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs and integration services.
- Experience working with AWS or similar cloud-native architectures.
- Solid understanding of clean code principles (SOLID, DRY, DDD) and secure coding practices.
- Experience with CI/CD workflows and deployment automation.
- Thorough debugging, diagnostics, and performance optimisation capability.
- Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to planning and estimation.
- Experience supporting peers through code reviews and collaborative development practices.
- Ability to understand and apply financial services domain constraints to software design.
Desirable
- Experience with highly configurable or rules-based systems (e.g., credit decisioning).
- Experience working within regulated financial services or compliance-heavy environments.
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React / Next.js) sufficient to support integration work.
- Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance development productivity, code quality, or problem-solving.
- Familiarity with Python for scripting or data-related tasks.
- Experience contributing to architectural discussions and technical design.
What's In It For You?
- Competitive remuneration package with employee share plans that reward individual and company success.
- Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
- Ongoing learning and development to support your professional growth.
- A modern office environment designed for a scaling fintech.
- A supportive and inclusive team culture backed by our B Corp certification and values-driven approach.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Even if you don't tick all the boxes, we encourage you to apply.
