One of our federal Government clients is seeking to engage Project Manager for Canberra location

  • **Please note Candidate must have Baseline Security clearanceInitial contract duration- 11 MonthsExperience level-**Manager - EL1 equivalent

Overview -

Project Managers plan and manage the delivery of projects.

This role is responsible for scheduling, managing, documenting and delivering projects of work, as well as being responsible and accountable for managing key stakeholder relationships, project quality, change control and risk management processes.

The role also assists in the operation of the On Demand Web Translation service, including stakeholder engagement, community engagement, assessment of technical issues and quality assurance.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

• Managing projects that are high risk or complex in nature;

• Managing multiple projects concurrently;

• Managing projects of strategic importance to the Department;

• Managing a multi discipline team with complex and different interfaces;

• Providing strategic planning, mapping and modelling development;

• Developing project documentation to a high standard as specified by the Department’s methodology within identified timeframes;

• Preparing and maintaining the project schedule;

• Building and developing stakeholder relationships;

• Managing project risks and issues and escalating as appropriate;

• Preparing progress reports;

• Managing resources for projects and/or programs;

• Preparing and managing budgets;

• Mentoring staff;

• Facilitating and conducting requirements progress meetings, presentations and workshops failure.

Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices.

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:

• Project Schedule;

• Project Implementation Plan;

• Project Management Plan;

• Benefits Management Plan;

• Stage plan;

• Baseline Change Requests – as required and if applicable;

• Statement of Requirements;

• Transition Plan.

Essential criteria

  • 1.Specialist knowledge in project management, including defining and managing scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities and ensuring that project deliverables are completed within agreed parameters, and are formally accepted, by appropriate stakeholders.
  • 2.Highly developed interpersonal communication skills including the ability to successfully lead, manage and work with business and project teams to deliver on high intensity, high risk, high value projects.
  • 3.Strong capability in building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships both internally and externally of the project.
  • 4.Knowledge of organisational business processes and experience dealing with internal stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • 5.Strong planning and organisational skills to manage, and prioritise, multiple tasks and deadlines.

Desirable criteria

  • 1.3+ years’ practical application of Project Management skills working in medium to large work environments
  • 2.Specialist knowledge in managing the development, delivery and operation of a business-led web content translation service, including ability to undertake technical analysis and fixes.
  • 3.Ability to undertake responsibilities of managers when required to report on project progress in executive fora.
