Business Development Representative

About Premier Standards

Premier Standards is a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation and part of the Premier Scaffolds Group of Companies. We train the operators that Queensland's construction, civil, and mining sites put to work: excavator, skid steer, front end loader, roller, high-risk work tickets, forklift, scaffolding, Certificate IV programs,  and heaps more coming. Theory runs online and practical sessions are booked on demand at our training ground near Brisbane airport, so a student can start today and no scheduling bottleneck stalls a deal. We are growing fast and we want someone whose whole job is to fill the pipeline.

The role

At this phase of our business, the role has two engines, and we are being completely clear about both from the start.

When marketing leads are coming in hot, and they usually are, you answer their enquiry and convert them into enrolments. That is the steady base of the job.

If inbound leads slow down, you hunt. Outbound calls, door knocking, and industry events to generate your own pipeline of employer and crew-level deals. That is where the uncapped commission lives.

Both matter. If you only want to answer inbound, this is not the role. If you want to cold call and ignore the enquiries in front of you, it is not the role either. We want someone who does both, and does both well.

What you'll do

•    Respond fast to inbound marketing enquiries and convert them into enrolments

•    Prospect and generate new business through outbound calling, follow-up, and face-to-face visits

•    Work expos, trade shows, and industry events to build a book of employer accounts

•    Identify and engage decision makers across construction, civil, plumbing, drainage, and labour hire

•    Turn one-off student enquiries into crew-level and employer-level training deals

•    Book and run meetings by phone, video, and in person

•    Keep a clean, accurate pipeline in HubSpot and log every call, outcome, and next step

What success looks like

•    Inbound enquiries answered fast and converted

•    Strong, self-generated outbound activity every week

•    Fast, disciplined follow-up

•    Clean, consistent HubSpot usage without being chased

•    More qualified opportunities, bookings, and conversions

•    High ownership, low drama

You'll be a strong fit if you

•    Have carried an outbound sales target and beaten it, and can show how

•    Are genuinely comfortable cold calling and door knocking, not just warm follow-up

•    Can also handle inbound enquiries with care and convert them

•    Have excellent spoken communication and a confident, professional phone manner

•    Are organised, persistent, and self-directed, and do not need supervision to stay productive

•    Are commercially minded and can sell an outcome, not a product code

•    Want to grow with the business and help train the team that comes after you

Must-haves

•    Two or more years of proven outbound sales, lead generation, or business development experience

•    Real cold-calling and self-sourced pipeline experience. This is the skill that sets this role apart

•    CRM discipline

•    Brisbane based

•    Full Australian work rights

Highly regarded

•    HubSpot experience

•    Experience selling training, or dealing with employers, trades, or construction customers

This role is not for you if

•    You want an inbound-only role and dislike cold outreach

•    You are only interested in cold calling and would neglect the enquiries in front of you

•    You need constant supervision to stay productive

•    You are not comfortable being measured on activity, follow-up, CRM usage, and outcomes

•    You are not adaptable to a scaling environment

Employment details

•    Full time, in office at our Virginia, Brisbane office

•    Monday to Friday, daytime hours

•    Laptop and headset provided

Remuneration

•    Competitive base salary plus super, covering inbound enquiry handling and your day-to-day activity

•    Uncapped commission on the enrolments you generate and close yourself
