An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced In-House Employment Lawyer to join a complex organisation operating across diverse industries and jurisdictions. This role is central to delivering a robust employee and industrial relations strategy and supporting leaders to navigate challenging workplace matters with confidence.
âĄď¸ The Opportunity
As a trusted adviser, you will collaborate closely with HR and senior leadership to provide practical, compliant, and commercially sensible advice. With a sizeable dedicated Legal team handling other legal work across the business, this role is specifically focused on employee and workplace relations matters, including:
- Collaborating with HR Business Partners, managers, and senior stakeholders across the business, providing clear, practical advice that appropriately balances risk, compliance, and operational priorities
- Acting as an advocate for the organisation before the Fair Work Commission and other relevant tribunals
- Leading the provision of specialist advice on complex and sensitive employee and industrial relations issues
- Managing intricate performance, conduct, and investigation matters in accordance with legislation, policy, and organisational values
- Promoting consistent application of employment laws, industrial instruments, and internal frameworks
- Engaging constructively with employees, unions, and external bodies to support positive workplace outcomes
- Supporting enterprise bargaining processes and agreement negotiations
- Strengthening organisational capability by equipping leaders with the skills and knowledge to manage Workplace matters effectively
- Contribute to the evolution of Workplace policies, systems, and practices
- Champion fairness, inclusion, and high-performance behaviours across the organisation

Work from home 1 day per week and work with a leader who is known for their pragmatic approach to balancing work and life. You will be provided with the flexibility and autonomy as long as outcomes are delivered.
âĄď¸ About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in law and/or human resources. Qualified lawyers who wish to maintain their practising certificate will be supported with associated costs, including CPD requirements.
- 5 to 10 yearsâ post-admission experience in employment, industrial relations and/or WHS (top-tier, leading mid-tier, or specialist boutique practice)
- A proven track record of handling complex ER/IR matters and investigations within large or regulated environments
- Demonstrated experience appearing before the Fair Work Commission or similar forums
- The ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Strong experience advising on award interpretation, compliance requirements, and risk management
- Confidence coaching and influencing leaders on best practice employee relations approaches
