Job Description

Posted on: August 14, 2026

About the Opportunity Step into a pivotal leadership role within the growing Corporate Bookkeeping division of our global mid-tier accounting and advisory firm.  This role offers a unique balance: the sophisticated client base and strategic support of a global network, combined with the agility, close-knit culture, and visibility of a mid-tier practice. As a Manager, you will serve as the critical link between your team, your clients, and the firm’s Directors. You will take full commercial and operational ownership of a diverse corporate portfolio, driving exceptional client outcomes, leading a high-performing team, and actively contributing to the strategic growth of the division.  If you have a strong background in professional services and are looking for a platform to lead, innovate, and grow your career, this is your opportunity. Key Responsibilities In this comprehensive leadership role, you will be accountable for portfolio profitability, service delivery, and team development.

  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery for a complex corporate portfolio. Lead high-level client engagements, oversee cloud accounting setups/integrations (Xero, third-party apps), and provide strategic guidance on management reporting, cash flow, and financial processes.
  • Take ownership of portfolio financials. Schedule workflows, allocate resources, prepare engagement budgets, manage WIP (Work in Progress), monitor billings, and drive recoverability targets.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of local and offshore professionals. Delegate effectively, manage day-to-day team performance, and foster a culture of continuous learning and high technical standards.
  • Act as the final point of review for complex compliance and management reporting. Drive the continuous improvement of internal processes, templates, and tech stacks to enhance team productivity and output quality.
  • Build seamless working relationships with Business Advisory, Family Office, and Tax Directors to ensure integrated client outcomes. Actively identify and convert new business and cross-referral opportunities.

Candidate Profile You are a commercially minded, collaborative leader who thrives in a multi-client environment. You possess a distinct advisory mindset and the ability to balance high-level client management with operational team leadership.

  • Professional Experience: 7+ years of experience in a senior outsourced finance, cloud accounting, or comprehensive bookkeeping role. Crucially, you possess extensive experience managing a large portfolio of clients within an accounting firm or professional services environment.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or similar. Professional certification (CA, CPA, or equivalent) is highly advantageous.
  • Leadership Capability: Proven experience managing team workflows, reviewing work (including offshore teams), driving consistent quality, and developing staff capability.
  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to manage engagement budgets, timeframes, and billing processes.
  • Tech Stack Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Xero (essential) and Microsoft 365, with strong exposure to management reporting applications (e.g., Syft, Spotlight Reporting, Fathom).
  • Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to present complex financial information, solve problems analytically, and build long-term client loyalty.

Why Join Us? We offer a supportive, high-performance environment where your leadership and commercial capabilities will be recognised and rewarded.

  • Career Trajectory: Genuine professional development and leadership pathways within a mid-tier global accounting network.
  • High-Quality Client Base: Ownership of complex, corporate, multi-entity clients not typically seen in smaller practices.
  • Strategic Impact: The opportunity to actively influence process development, technology adoption, and team culture as the Corporate Bookkeeping function scales.
  • Collaboration: Deep exposure to, and collaboration with, highly experienced CA-led advisory and tax teams.
  • Flexibility: A supportive hybrid working arrangement based in a modern Melbourne CBD office.
