About the Role

You’ll play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for a variety of civil construction projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure our bids are both commercially viable and technically sound. You will be required to analyse project plans and work methodologies to produce accurate cost and time estimates for infrastructure projects across a range of sectors, often in remote areas of Australia.

As a Senior Estimator your responsibilities will include:

• Interpreting engineering plans and specifications.
• Conducting commercial reviews of contracts and identify key issues, scope deviations, and providing construction solutions.
• Preparing accurate bills of quantities, cost estimates and project schedules.
• Managing tendering and quoting procedures, ensuring submissions meet client requirements.
• Identifying project cost risks and opportunities.
• Analysing project profitability and unit costs to improve tender success rates.
• Liaising effectively with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Mentoring junior team members to support their development and maintain quality standards.

About You

You are energetic and ambitious and looking to advance your career to the next level. You hold tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field and have a minimum of ten years’ experience in the Australian civil construction or engineering industry, including 6 years as an estimator. You bring strong estimating experience, including preparing tenders and proposals and identifying cost-effective solutions. You have proven skills in commercial and risk management, planning and project controls.

You have strong analytical thinking skills and a sharp attention to detail. You are a confident communicator and a collaborative team player. You are familiar with Australian construction standards and practices, understand infrastructure construction methods, material costs, and the factors that influence project timelines and budgets.

You have are an experienced user of industry software tools such as Expert Estimation, Candy and have an understanding of MSP, Asta Powerproject or P6.
