Rockpress is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector with a strong background in welding and metal fabrication to support our production team and ensure compliance with customer, engineering, and Australian Standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining weld quality, fabrication accuracy, and overall product integrity.
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Carry out quality control checks on all aspects of fabricated parts, including:
- Thread verification
- Dimensional measurements
- Conformance to drawings and fabrication requirements
- Identify, report, and address quality-related concerns and non-conformances
- Adhere strictly to Rockpress Quality Procedures in all duties
- Provide guidance and technical support to production teams
- Assist with the preparation and completion of:
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation
- Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- First Article Inspections (FAIs)
- Certificates of Conformance (COC’s)
- Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Coordinate with NDT personnel and prepare welding joints for NDT testing
- Liaise with teams to ensure successful outcomes
Skills, Experience & QualificationsEssential:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Welding QC Inspector or Team Leader in a fabrication environment
- Strong proficiency in welding inspection and quality control practices
- Demonstrated practical welding knowledge and abilities
- Solid background in Quality Assurance and inspection procedures
- Familiarity with Australian Standards relating to structural steel and welding
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- High level of attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Strong computer skills (inspection reports, QA documentation, spreadsheets)
Desirable:
- Certificate 10– AS1796,AS2214 or IWI-B welding inspection certification
- Experience working within the rail industry &/or with EN 15085
- Experience working within the structural steel &/or with AS 3834
- Exposure to formal quality systems such as ISO 9001What We Offer:
