About The Role Reporting to the Workforce Coordinator Team Leader, you will be responsible for developing and managing master and operational rosters for station staff and conductors. You’ll play a key role in supporting the roster within the Hastus system, applying data-driven approaches to workforce management, and driving continuous improvement in rostering processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage master and operational rosters, ensuring compliance with safety, EBA, and fatigue risk management principles
- Maintain accurate employee and roster data in Hastus
- Support flexible work arrangements, leave planning, and shift swaps
- Collaborate with local management teams to hand over day-of-operations responsibilities
- Analyse roster outcomes to identify improvements in efficiency, process adherence, and human factors
- Champion the use of Hastus and support training for local users
- Assist in planning for service changes, special events, and public holidays
About You You are a detail-oriented and collaborative professional who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You bring a strong analytical mindset and a passion for continuous improvement. You’re comfortable working with data and systems, and you enjoy solving complex rostering challenges while balancing operational needs with employee wellbeing. Your ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with diverse teams makes you a trusted partner in workforce planning. This role is primarily office-based at 452 Flinders Street, however a moderate amount of regional travel is also expected (1-2 days per fortnight). Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Completion of Year 12
- 1–2 years of experience in roster planning (experience in roster planning within transport/logistics sectors highly desirable)
- Strong proficiency in Excel
- Knowledge of Hastus (highly desirable)

- Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and influence strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Rostering & Workforce Scheduling Experience: Proven experience managing complex rosters within digital rostering systems; proficiency with Hastus is highly desirable. Ability to optimise schedules in line with operational needs and industrial agreements.
- Training, Coaching & Mentoring: Demonstrated experience delivering both formal and informal training, coaching, or mentoring to staff, supporting capability uplift and embedding best‑practice processes across the team.

This position will be paid in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administration Employees Agreement 2023.
