Manager – Marketing Communications
- $152,556.00 per annum + 12% superannuation
- Full time, ongoing opportunity
- Wadawurrung / Geelong based role (hybrid work from home – 3 days a week in office)
About the opportunity
The Manager Marketing Communications is responsible for leading the team to deliver targeted above and below the line communication activities and campaigns and will lead the provision of communications advice and service across the business of WorkSafe: Health and Safety, Insurance Scheme, Psychological Health and Strategy.
Liaising and developing strong relationships with key leaders across the business, the Manager Marketing Communications will lead the research, development, implementation and evaluation of external communications services, providing leadership and support to a team of marketing communications professionals. The role combines a hands-on, implementation marketing focus, with an ability to manage and lead strategically.
Key accountabilities
- Lead the strategy and development of behaviour and attitudinal change communications to address key business issues delivering best practice communication approaches, new thinking and innovation to amplify messages.
- Lead the strategy, planning, implementation and evaluation of multi-channel, integrated communications programs across paid, earned and owned channels, using both traditional and nontraditional media.
- Working across the business and with stakeholders, draw learnings from research, insights and analytics to deliver best practice communication approaches.
- Lead a team of marketing communications professional and support the development of ‘best practice’ marketing communications skills and competencies, providing feedback that supports continuous improvement and development of team members.
- Work collaboratively and in partnership across the External Affairs division and WorkSafe business units to provide specialised services and advice that ensures marketing communications initiatives meet stakeholder needs, reflect the organisations marketing strategy and deliver on WorkSafe’s mission.

About you
You are a strategic communications professional with a proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high‑performing teams. Your strong project management and organisational capabilities enable you to effectively plan and oversee multiple projects, resources and competing priorities, while delivering to tight deadlines. With exceptional interpersonal skills, you build constructive and influential relationships, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor who can confidently negotiate and guide key stakeholders.
Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Extensive communications experience in developing strategic communications to meet defined objectives, across paid, owned and earned channels in a dynamic environment, with a focus on both strategy and implementation.
- Extensive experience leading, motivating and developing teams of communications professionals in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated experience and ability to write for a range of different audiences including a high standard of communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of research, analysis and project management techniques.
- Strong focus on building cross functional relationships, team work and collaboration, with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as well as lead and work autonomously.
- Well-developed judgement and problem solving abilities and the ability to be flexible and resilient in a dynamic and changing environment and to show initiative and innovation in the development of solutions and managing issues.
